Building relationships with the kind of people you can talk to about life's hardships and struggles you might be going through is essential in order to overcome obstacles and grow as a person. Trust and honesty are the two most important qualities to have in regards to all relationships. Who Are You?
Why do people feel the need to conform to how they want other people to perceive them? Being different is nothing to be ashamed of. If you feel the need to conform, you will never be who you really are. Always acting like someone you are not is dishonest, not only to yourself but also to your friends. If you do not act and portray your true self, you are living a lie. Friends should know who the true person they are friends with. Are people afraid to speak their minds and and act as they really are because of the way people might react? To not care about what other people think about you is a very difficult trait to obtain but it is something everyone should strive for. To know that how people view you does not matter makes one's opinions stronger and more concrete. One can have no doubt or insecurities about who he or she is.

Friendship is all about mutual accountability. I believe it is crucial to not care about what others think of you in order to achieve your personal best although I know that is also important to consider objective feedback when necessary.
I know what you are trying to say and you see it everyday when you walk the campus. Sometimes it blatantly obvious too, who's fake and who's not. Everyone in life has a path they want to ride along and for some that’s being someone they aren't. I understand what you mean and you see people who are not afraid to express themselves in those regards. Take famous athletes for example, they're making millions with people throwing themselves at them to be friends but the ones that they keep close are the one's that have been there for them through the struggles. Friendship is about trust, and for me, well you can't trust someone who isn't them self.
